Old wooden coal miner's canary bird cage with original stoneware/earthenware water bowl/crock. The cage needs some restoration. It shows wear and marks throughout and could use a good cleaning. On the top 1/2 of one of the spindles is missing and one has been replaced. The end that the bird was taken in and out of shows a bit of damage. One small piece of spindle has been replace on one side. There is a crack in the wooden support piece near the water bowl. The feed trough has a piece of broken spindle sitting in it that could be used to repair one of the areas. The bottom board is warped a bit. The original stoneware water bowl is in good condition. The cage measures approx. 6 1/2" x 5" x 6". With a little tightening and tlc the piece could easily be restored, or keep it as is as an example of an old item with a famous history.
